You moved into a place with a pre-installed security system
Sometimes when you close on a home, a security system is already installed. All the devices work, are hung in the right spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, you might find that you have to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to make sure there are no compatibility problems, and they may offer options on upgrades. It's a quick trip, and you can have your monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you add on.
The previous owners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a nominal transfer cost to make the process simpler. If the previous owners are downsizing to a condo or retirement community, turning over the Vivint contract may be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your existing components with you
You may need to take your favorite Vivint system with you to your new house when you move. That’s fairly easy to accomplish, as many smart devices are portable. You can remove each alarm or camera by yourself or call a professional expert to come and dismantle the system. Then an expert will set up the same devices -- and any additions you want to have -- in your new place. The home security contract will remain the same.
